As I mentioned before, we spent the weekend in Williamsburg to celebrate Tim's birthday and our 6 month anniversary. I'm glad I planned ahead so that we could see a lot in a short amount of time. And we even made it to the outlets on Sunday :)
We headed for Williamsburg Saturday morning. Its so nice to be so close by in Richmond because we were there in no time. We walked around William and Mary's campus first. It was beautiful and so rich. The history of it just makes it so charming. It was a great (warm December) day for a visit.
I couldn't resist getting a pic of the old brick sidewalk.
This is the Wren Building (oldest one on campus- it was built between 1695 and 1700)
This was the inside set up as a museum now. This is how the old classrooms would have been set up.
Then we wandered over to Colonial Williamsburg. It was so crowded but worth it, especially because it was decorated for Christmas! It was pretty neat to step back in time.
And we spent the rest of the evening at Busch Gardens Christmastown! It was so magical with the whole park lit up. I loved going up the tower and overlooking the whole park. My favorite area was definitely Escape to Pompeii (thats in the last picture). It was breathtaking. If you are close by I would highly recommend going (unless you really hate crowds).
YAY Coke!
What Christmas festivities have you done this year? Next on our list is the Tacky Lights tour!

Oh we love Williamsburg! Mendi went for the tree lighting they had on 12/2.

We did the same trip last year (and did Christmas with Santa with the kids). I love Williamsburg this time of year!
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny! It is really beautiful with everything decorated and lit up :)
DeleteI love your pictures of Williamsburg! I went once when I was 9-ish and again when I was 15, both in the summer, so it is cool to see your winter pics.

Thanks! There was so much to take pictures of...you definitely need to make a trip one winter :)

I love going to Williamsburg! My grandmother lives there, so we visit quite often. However, I have never been to Christmas Town at Busch Gardens.
ReplyDeleteThis was my first time going and it was AWESOME! If possible I wouldn't go on a Saturday because of crowds. It's only $27 a ticket and half of that if you have a busch gardens season pass :)
