Apartment Updates- Bookcases, Shoe Storage & Dining Chairs

I keep telling you that I am so excited to get back to blogging and yet all week I couldn't think of anything to write about. Well, lucky for you I finally have an idea!

How about I share some updates to our apartment? I am very happy with the state of our home right now but the designer in me will always find things to change. The majority of our furniture was given to us, brought from home or came from our college apartments.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with that but some of it just isn't my style.

We have finally found some bookcases to replace our basic 3 shelf ones that flank the tv.

We are going to get 2 of these beauties tomorrow!

Another piece that we need for the living room is shoe storage or organization for the entryway. I haven't found anything I really like yet. Who knows...maybe this will be my next DIY project?? :)

Now onto the "dining room". I say this in quotations because its more or less an area, not a room. The existing table and chairs were given to us from my Aunt Eva and I have used them for about 3 years now. Will probably replace the chairs first and worry about the table later because we might have a larger dining room when we move again. If we bought a table now it would probably end up being too small.

I have my eye on these!!

Target has 2 of these for $99. World Market has 1 for $119.
Not everyone would want this for a dining room chair because it is informal and is probably not going to be super comfortable. I however adore this industrial look and you can't beat 4 dining chairs for $200, right?? Amazing!!

These inspiration images will probably change your mind if you are on the fence about them.

Have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Tangerine Hues {Design Collaboration}

I'm back!! It's been a while but I have missed you all! Hope you enjoy this "minty" post and come back later to celebrate my blogiversary!!

Its time for the July Mood board collaboration!!
 Details:
Every month we will rotate choosing a color inspiration photo and all create a board based on it. It can be interior design, graphic design, fashion, etc. We will each post the boards on our blogs on the same day. Hopefully you will enjoy these inspiration filled posts. I know I am interested to see everyone's different styles and interpretations. You can click on the links to their blogs to see a full list of resources!

This month I got to choose our color palette! Mint and Orange look amazing together and I love the added touch of yellow in this inspiration photo. Mint is a VERY popular color right now especially in kitchens. My kitchen has teal and yellow accents and I love how sunny it is. I decided to create a board for a casual dining space with some kitchen accessories. Since so many kitchens are open concept now or have an eat-in area they should feel like one cohesive space.

This has definitely become my favorite design board. It is going to be filed away for my dream home!!

{Carissa from Carissa Miss} for me this picture just sang kitchen! {maybe it's because i have mint and yellow in mine} I just had to share some of my latest loves for kitchen accessories. i'm hoping to actually get some art up on the walls in my house, so if it is a little art-heavy that's why! after the kids' rooms are done then i'm planning on finishing the art in our entry-way makeover, and then FINALLY i can get to decorating the rest of the kitchen. come visit carissamiss.com to see sources!

{Amy from The Blissful Bee}
There is no better match than mint and orange! I had so much fun designing my pretend living room that it seriously made me want to add these colors into my own living space.

{Lizzie from Living Pretty}
I totally indulged myself with this challenge and made myself an office space. I don't have room for a real office in my house, but if I did it might look something like this - eclectic, fun and girly. Visit me at livingprettyblog.com for sources.

{Sarah from This Sarah Loves}
These colors inspired me to create a restful guest room mood board. I love the idea of mismatched nightstands - updating an old curvy dresser in fresh mint for one side and a more masculine grey desk for the other side. I would use lots of white to keep things fresh & raw wood to bring nature in. Add in some fun colorful art & a whimsical bronze rhino for a guest room that doesn't take itself too seriously. Arcadian Home- Teal Rooms to Love

Bedding in a pretty teal and white pattern looks great against a deep teal wall in this chic bedroom. A single toss pillow in a darker shade of teal and gray is perfect final touch. Teal Rooms

Today I have a special guest post for you. I was contacted by Arcadian Home blog about bringing some of their inspiration to my blog. I couldn't resist when they told me what the post would be about. TEAL SPACES!! Enjoy~

Hello, everyone! I'm so happy to be here with you at Designer in Teal with a guest post from Arcadian Home blog. It's a fantastic place to find interior design inspiration including great decorating ideas for everything from beautiful foyer lights to colorful wall art and much more. Today, we're going to take a little tour of interior spaces all dressed up in lovely teal. Please enjoy! Thanks for letting me stop by for a visit. ~ Mari
  Teal Rooms
Here, a sleek teal sofa meets rustic washed brown wood tables and lamp. Contemporary floor lamps with oversized shades are showing up everywhere right now. What a great look! Teal Rooms
Here's a gorgeous vignette with shades of teal and turquoise. From pale to brilliant, there's a blue for every room. Teal Rooms
I am not usually a fan of dark kitchens, but this one is stunning in teal from head to toe or rather from floor to ceiling. Teal Rooms
This kitchen is beautiful with its moody teal wall. What a wonderful mix of materials—metal, wood and tile. Even the industrial style modern pendant light contributes to the darkly handsome look. Teal Rooms
Over the years, teal seems always to be a favorite color for accent walls—not sure why that is but I love the look. Here teal adds depth to a pale neutral space.

Teal Rooms
Subway tile in a medium teal hue is a great design choice in this traditional bath with clawfoot tub. Teal Rooms
Versatile teal also looks stylish in a contemporary bath, this time in combination with warm desert tan. Modern pendant lights in white glass look pretty above the long vanity.

Aren't these spaces gorgeous?? Thanks Arcadian Home!!
