May Mood Board Collaboration

Last month I announced a design collaboration that my friend Carissa started. If you missed that, you can see it {here}. This month the palette inspired me to create a chic ladies room board. If you would like to join in on the collaboration, let me know!! I hope you enjoy~

P.S. I get to choose the colors for June!!

Details:
Every month we will rotate choosing a color inspiration photo and all create a board based on it. It can be interior design, graphic design, fashion, etc. We will each post the boards on our blogs on the same day. Hopefully you will enjoy these inspiration filled posts. I know I am interested to see everyone's different styles and interpretations. You can click on the links to their blogs to see a full list of resources!

carissa from carissa miss here. lucky for me i got to work on one of my most anticipated boards...a little girl's room for my not-so-little-anymore girl! we are hoping to transform her bedroom from nursery/toddler room to sophisticated chic little girl room. i've been working on the design in my head pretty much since she was born:) her nursery wasn't ever really anything but a hodge-podge of handmedowns and clearance items so i've been waiting until she had a space of her own i could slowly save up and design the perfect room. here's the fun inspiration board! come visit me to see all the details and sources!

Hey guys - I'm Amy from The Blissful Bee! I am a designer and photographer based out of Texas and I love to blog about my creative adventures. Make sure to check out my blog if you would like to see more of my designs:)

Hey y'all! I'm Fletcher from High Cotton Style. I couldn't be
more thrilled to join in on this months collaboration.
Hop on over to High Cotton Style to get the scoop on this design board. Stay a while- have a few drinks, and listen to me babble about interior design, recipes, life and who knows what else! All with southern hospitality, of course;)

A day late....

So we had a pretty exciting weekend that you may have seen glimpses of if you follow me on Instagram. Most bloggers post about their weekend on Monday...but I was not that prepared so here you go!

Friday night was pretty low key. Just had a night in like usual.

Saturday morning we went to the Irish parade/festival in Church Hill (which is a historic neighborhood in downtown Richmond). It was a lot of fun seeing everyone in their outfits, playing the bagpipes and watching the Irish step dancers.

Nutsy even showed up to the party ;) (he's the Flying Squirrels mascot)

While we were there, we stopped by St. John's Church. This is where Patrick Henry gave his "Give me Liberty, Give me Death" speech. AND ironically it was on that day we were there (March 23rd) 1775. Oh and it is still an active church to this day!

We got back and watched some VCU basketball (both sporting black and yellow).

(sorry phone camera quality not so good in reverse)

We drove around to look for some more houses/townhouses for rent.

We went to Hogshead Cafe (again) for dinner. I love this place...I could brag on it for the rest of this post but I will just spare you and tell you that you need to go there if you visit RVA! I got the chili barbeque nachos and they were out of this world and probably enough to feed 2-3 people!
We rented Argo on Redbox. I would highly recommend watching it if you haven't seen it!

And then Sunday we were greeted with this:

How was your weekend?

Oh and by the way:
  • See what Sara had to say about Designer in Teal over here!
  • I am still participating in the Mood Board link-up today just with an old post!
  • Remember that small giveaway I mentioned? Well it has gotten a lot bigger. Be sure to come back next Monday to enter!

Wedding Wednesday #3

Yay for finally getting to do another Wedding Wednesday! I love getting to reminisce about my wedding and know how much money we saved by making so many of the decorations instead of buying them. I hope that this inspires you to do the same for your wedding.  Today I want to share a few DIY projects that I did for our wedding.

First up DIY Chalkboard Menu
What you need:

Process:
First you want to wipe the frame and glass clean of any dust or dirt. Let it dry. Take apart the frame from the glass. I sprayed the frame first but it doesn't have to be done in the same order. Lightly spray to coat the frame until completely covered (about 3 coats should do it). Next do the same with the chalkboard spray. You can buy it in a bucket if you want more to use for something else. Follow the directions for letting it sit before use. Then write away...(like my bridesmaid Sammi)
We used ours for the reception menu but you could use it many ways in the home (chores, to do lists, messages to each other/visitors, etc.)

The second project is DIY Hanging Frames.
What you need:

  • Wood frames (can be bought at most craft stores)
  • acrylic paint
  • sponge brush
  • 4x6 and/or 5x7 photos
  • wire and clothes pins to hang them

Process:
Pretty self explanatory- Paint the frames. (mine took 2 coats) Let them dry. Insert pictures.
Hang and enjoy :) I used our engagement pictures and painted the frames in our wedding colors. I also used 2 frame sizes for more interest.

Tacky Lights Date

First of all, I want to apologize for not posting in 12 days! I am sooooo sorry but I hope that you won't be disappointed for what is to come. I have a lot to share in the new year and I can't wait. The first few posts will be recapping the Christmas 2012 season. This was our first married Christmas together and it was a little crazy. I felt like I couldn't get settled before we had to leave again but I'm glad that we got to visit with everyone. I didn't actually take any pictures myself (bad blogger) but hopefully I can round up some that my family members took.

For today's post I want to share our little date night we took before Christmas. The hubby and I went on the Tacky Lights tour here in Richmond and I have NEVER seen anything like it before! I fixed us some hot cocoa for the road and we drove all around the west end. So without further ado:

And I got these adorable cake pops at our CLI Christmas luncheon!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and has a wonderful New Year! Please keep checking back because I will be doing a lot of posts in the next few days! And finally I can share our Christmas card for 2012! What do you think?

P.S. I got a new look over the holidays... will post a picture later!

And my friend Erin had her baby boy Caden :) Congrats Erin and Brandon!
