Not pillow fluffers...

Before I start posting design inspiration, I want to be clear on what an interior designer is! We are NOT pillow fluffers, decorators, finish pickers, stagers, etc. Interior design is more or less interior architecture.

Here is just a small list of design service we might provide:
space planning
lighting design
branding and signage
furniture selection and specification
construction documents and administration
post-occupancy evaluation
concept design
programming
sustainable design
ADA- accessibility
International Building Code

For more information on Interior Design, check out these links:

Now that you know what the profession is all about, I will leave you with some inspiring spaces!! Let me know what you think. Enjoy :)

Teal Love

Since I made the statement that I love teal and own a lot of it, I thought I would share some of my favorite teal items.

1. Beaded Teal necklace- I got this teal necklace at a jewelry shop at Myrtle beach, so I can't tell you where to get it, but I do know where there is a lot of teal jewelry that you can check out.(http://charmingcharlie.com/cc/landing/standardColor.jsp?question=&pageNum=0&pageSize=28&trail=5010%3Aturquoise&_requestid=3242138)
This is my statement necklace and I do wear it very often. It also came with earrings but I usually wear them separately so it's not too overwhelming.

2. Fiesta Pitcher in Turquoise- This pitcher was on our wedding registry and we got it as a wedding gift from my mother-in-law. I just love it. I love the entire fiestaware collection and you can buy it here: http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/fiesta-dinnerware-disk-pitcher-collection?ID=580353&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results Unfortunately they are going to discontinue this color so I will have to choose another.

3.Shaded Spruce pillow from Pier One Imports- These were also a gift for the wedding. My friend Sandy took me shopping and I picked these. They are oversized and make the sofa very cozy. You can check them out here: http://www.pier1.com/Catalog/HomeD├ęcorAccents/tabid/979/CategoryId/947/ProductId/5660/ProductName/Shaded-Spruce-Pillow/language/en-US/Default.aspx

4. Toms classic in sea glass- My husband got these for me for my 21st birthday :)  I love them and the whole Tom's line. They don't carry these anymore, but are always adding new teal Toms to tease me. Here is a similar pair: http://www.toms.com/womens/classics/fluorescent-turquoise-palmetto-women-s-classics

I hope you like my teal possessions! Which were your favorite items? What are your favorite teal items that you own or wish to own? Please share with me!

FINALLY starting a blog

I guess I am jumping on the blog bandwagon. I am starting a blog to share all of the things that I am passionate about. I hope that you will follow along for the journey. So how did I choose the name for my blog? Well, I am an interior designer and I absolutely love this profession and teal is my favorite color. If you know me, you know that my wardrobe and apartment are full of this color. I wanted to wait for a big moment in my life to start this blog and well it just didn't happen during my wedding. If you are planning or have planned a wedding, you know how overwhelming it can be. However, I just received an offer for a full time job at Courtney Ludeman Interiors!!! Check her out here: http://courtneyludeman.com/ I have to tell you it was the most exciting phone call I have ever had. Obviously, I will keep you posted on how this job goes. I can't wait to share all of my thoughts and ideas on my favorite things and people. This has been the most exciting, fully-packed year OF MY LIFE! I just turned 22 on June 26th and within that year I got a new car, graduated college, got an internship, got MARRIED to my best friend, went on our honeymoon, went out of the country, moved twice and lots of little things in between! So you can imagine that I have a lot to talk about. I am so blessed to have so many great people in my life and have one great opportunity that is about to start. Stick around because there will be a lot more posts coming soon including: how to plan a small budget wedding, cheap and easy weeknight dinners, design I am inspired by and some special shout-outs to people that I love. I will leave you with the best times of my life in photos!!
