Blogtember Day 1: Where I am from

It's time for another blog challenge! Jenni from Story of my Life is doing it again! Remember when she did Blog every day in May? Blogtember is a challenge to blog every weekday of September and there are some amazing topics this time. I hope you enjoy hearing some stories about me and learning about the real Designer in Teal!

Tuesday, Sept. 3: Describe where or what you come from. The people, the places, and/or the factors that make up who you are.

What makes me who I am?

Well there are a lot of things but we will just cover the basics today.

First up is my hometown. I am from a very small town in rural Virginia where your GPS won't work and the closest mall is a half-hour drive. I lived in a 2 story farmhouse until I left for college. I love the country and I wouldn't have changed it for anything. It frustrated me then because I thought there was nothing to do but now I realize it was such a great way of life to not be caught up in the fast pace of city .

What else makes me who I am? Or should I say who? Of course my parents have had an impact on the woman I have become. I always thought they were harder on me because I was older but now I see that they just wanted me to live up to my full potential. They made me laugh, wiped my tears, shared my pain, celebrated my success and loved me more than anything.

My sister (although she drove me crazy sometimes) taught me responsibility, how to share and even how to love and care for someone like they were my own. I hated when she wanted to copy me but now I see it was because she looked up to me. We have been a support to each other and I am so happy that we have become closer over the years.

My husband has definitely shaped who I am. I have been with him for 8 years this November and I could not ask for a better man. He encouraged me to come to come to church with him which in turn brought me closer to God. Because of him I am learning to put others before myself and overall has made me a better person.

My friends! I actually had a conversation with my co-worker and we were arguing over who had less friends. Who does that? Anyways, the point was that I've never had a large group of friends but I know I can count on the ones I do have. They taught me how to have fun and be myself.

Life circumstances.
-I have lost loved ones but I feel so lucky to have my immediate family here with me. I know in this regard my life has been very easy compared to many.
-College. Once again I feel extremely blessed to have a college degree. Many people take this for granted but I couldn't have afforded it on my own. I love my profession and job and many people can't say that either.
