Kitchen Thyme Blogger meet up

I finally went to my first Virginia Bloggers meet up this past Thursday. It was a healthy cooking demo at Kitchen Thyme. I am a little late posting this but better late than never!
If you are a blogger living in VA I really encourage you to sign up for this if you haven't already. Its a great way to meet other local bloggers. I have met some really sweet people from it already!

Back to the recap...I didn't take my camera but many of the other girls did and so I suggest you check out their perspectives too if you are more of a visual person!
Liz from I Heart Vegetables
Katherine from Neon Blonde Runner
Dory from The Doyle Dispatch
Sarah from A T-Shirt and Pearls
My new blogging friend Sarah! I borrowed this pic from her! I had to share it :)

The menu:

Kale Chips
ABC Smoothies (apple, beet and carrot)
Carrot and Pineapple muffins
Mushroom, Lentil and Olive burgers (these were my favorite)
Radish and Avocado salad

What did I learn from this demo?

  • You can sign up for Sur La Table and receive a free knife sharpening
  • That Pam ruins the non-stick coating on your pans. Coat with butter instead.
  • Oil and vinegar don't mix but mustard will keep them from separating
  • Build your salad on the plate instead of in one big bowl
  • That I should be buying more locally grown foods!!

Now here is something for you! If you live in Richmond, Charlottesville, D.C., NOVA or Baltimore areas then try out Relay Foods! You can receive $25 off $50 for signing up. Use the code VABLOG. Enjoy! I am trying them out so I will let you know what I think!

Can't wait for the next meet up :) Loved meeting you girls!

Have you ever been to a cooking demo? Have you ever tried a grocery service like Relay foods?

  1. What did you think of the beet smoothie? I discovered jamba juice last week and wanted to try the beet smoothie but couldn't bring myself to do it

    1. I liked it surprisingly. The apple and carrot gave it sweetness. I would definitely recommend drinking it chilled or over ice.
